The Volvo C70: the Conservative Convertible

The Volvo group has always been known more about the safety of their cars than the kind of style that their vehicles sport around. The reputation comes from Volvo’s effort to increase the safety of their cars which they designed to have a boxy look. The boxy design is employed by early models of the car that is why the company is known not for the good looks of their cars.

The present though is different; the last decade has seen Volvo produce cool looking cars in an effort to catch the attention of younger buyers. An example of the Sweden-based outfit effort to produce eye pleasing design is their Volvo C70 convertible. The car is originally designed as a coupe and is converted to a drop-top which has the conservative styling of a Volvo but it still looks good.

The convertible does not offer radical designs but the drop-top configuration of this car surely commands attention. The car’s attractiveness mirrors the company’s drive to not only provide safe cars for the public but also good looking ones in order for them to have the younger consumers latch on – this is the group which the company is hoping will become their buyer base for many years to come.

The car employs a four-piece hardtop that gently tucks itself into the car’s trunk in under 30 seconds. The precise engineering of the mechanism enables the driver to lower the top and it also makes the lowering of the top quite a sight to see.

The convertible is a four-seater affair and offers good lumbar support to all its occupants. With the top up, it feels like a coupe from the inside, not only in its looks but the way you would feel when you drive it. The rest of the interior is also a good piece of work, from its floating console which is common with newly released cars from Volvo, to its easy-to-read analog dials; the car offers convenience and comfort.

It is also loaded with safety features that only Volvo can offer. The C70 is the only convertible that has side curtain airbags; this is a testament to the company’s dedication to providing safe cars no matter what the design may be.

The performance of the car is optimized by a wide array of high performance Volvo auto parts which are known for their reliability and long service lifespan. Its turbocharged engine can accelerate the car from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in roughly 7 seconds. The car’s acceleration is quite remarkable given its heavy roof, the added weight of chassis stiffening components, Boron steel windshield pillars and ballistic roll-over bars. What powers the car to that remarkable acceleration is its powerplant that is a transversely-mounted 2.5 liter turbocharged engine capable of producing up to 218 horsepower at 5000 revs per minute.

The problem that is common to all convertible though is that once the top is lowered, it cuts the luggage space in half, and the Volvo C70 is no exception to that. But efforts put in the design of the convertible gives the driver a mechanism that allows him to raise the top while it is inside the trunk to permit loading of luggage underneath it before lowering it again. While this does not solve the storage space problem, it is a clever way to make the best out of the situation. Overall, the convertible is a great ride, not only does it offer good aesthetic value but also great performance, with a healthy slice of safety thrown into the mix.

New Inpatient Pain Program Aims to Return Patients to Work in Two Weeks

Chronic pain is a complex medical condition influenced by biological, physical, behavioral, environmental and social forces. Because this is true I am dedicated to and passionate about using a multidisciplinary approach, relying upon my well-rounded training and experience in the field of interventional pain medicine.

Using a multidisciplinary approach increases the chance of identifying the source of pain at its root and then developing a treatment plan from the very beginning that has the greatest potential of lessening pain and returning the patient to as normal a life as possible.

And, whenever possible, I believe the patient should receive relief from pain and become trained in coping techniques to speed up their recovery. Why would anyone want to delay the lessening of pain and improve their quality of life? That’s not rational. In fact, it is very irrational for patients and employers not to take Chronic Pain seriously and intervene as quickly as medically possible.

Consider that in the United States alone employers spend nearly $1 billion a week on wage payments and medical care for workers hurt on the job, according to the 2005 Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index.

A survey by the National Pain Foundation (NPF) has found that persistent pain has risen dramatically, up almost 40 percent, among full-time U.S. workers in the past 10 years. The NPF poll of more than 1,000 workers found the prevalence of chronic pain was much more common in the workplace (26 percent) in 2006 than it was in 1996 (19 percent).

Even more, almost nine out of 10 employees with chronic pain typically went to work rather than stay at home, the survey found. The vast majority — 95 percent — said their pain had to be either moderate or very severe before they stayed home from work. Forty-six percent of those employees with chronic pain said their pain often or sometimes affects their ability to perform their job.

I am the Medical Director of the Walton Pain Center, a part of the Walton Rehabilitation Health Systems of Augusta, GA, which uses a continuum of care approach to return Workman’s Comp clients or returning patients to work and to a comfortable lifestyle as well.

Walton has been a leader for many years in the conservative treatment of Chronic Pain through traditional outpatient services. Now that reputation has been elevated by reaching the same goal within two weeks through a new program recently launched by the Walton Pain Center.

The center has a demonstrable record of success using reliable interventional strategies, therapy, surgical consultations, and massage. The innovative Inpatient Pain Program adds a new dimension of achieving the same desired results but in far less time – within two weeks!

The primary goals of the new two-week comprehensive Inpatient Pain Program are to:

• Break the patient’s pain cycle

• Enhance physical function and mobility and thus increase productivity

• Improve emotional distress (depression, anxiety, diminished self esteem)

• Promote the return to pre-injury activities and/or employment

This new two-week program is designed for patients with Chronic Pain that has disrupted their professional and personal lives. The focus is on intensive pain management, under close supervision, in a structured, therapeutic and supportive environment. The pain treatment team consists of Physical and Occupational therapists, Psychologist, Nursing staff, Masseur, Dietician, Chaplain, and in-house case management.

Treatment strategies center on providing medication monitoring and conservative interventional management to insure patients are taking the most appropriate medications at the most effective dosages and other pain relieving procedures as needed. The physical/occupational therapy component is structured in such a way as to encourage the patient to take a greater role in improving their stamina and physical functioning through muscle strengthening, tone and endurance exercises.

The new two-week Inpatient Pain Program will provide more intensive and focused pain management than what is available now only through outpatient treatment.

By providing the psychological component, we speed the recovery process by ensuring that the Chronic Pain patient understands that our aim is not to eliminate pain but to lessen pain and providing coping skills needed to return to work and live a more normal, productive life.

And how important is this? Ask American employers who are paying $1 billion a week for workers hurt on the job. Returning workers to their jobs as quickly as possible and curbing reoccurring bouts with pain can produce major savings.

With reasonable per diem rates, based on the patient’s needs, this new Inpatient Pain Program is designed to provide more intensive and focused pain management than currently available through outpatient treatment only.

Information And Facts On Debt Elimination System – Read This Useful Report

Do you really believe debt elimination programs that promise to wipe your debt away? The very debt elimination domain of activity has the scammiest reputation of all. And there are very common pitfalls out there that you have no idea how to avoid. Moreover, the negative publicity has led to an increase of distrust, so that even legitimate businesses that can help you negotiate better terms for loans, have trouble convincing clients of their reliability

We have to wonder why debt elimination programs are necessary in the first place when the consumer should be able to handle everything without too much trouble. Intermediaries negotiate on the client’s behalf to get better conditions. Then, according to the previous understanding the client will pay a fee for the service. Yet, such debt elimination programs do not have some special strategy to improve the user’s indebtedness level.

Some debt elimination programs only provide a temporary solution to your problems. Most of the time they function as a form of short-term fix, but on the long run, conditions may be harsher for you. I mention ignorance pushes people to incorrect choices, they do not understand their finances and they spend without thinking of the consequences on their budgets. It is wise to determine which expenses satisfy needs and which are ways to cope with whims and consumerist behaviors.

An expert opinion claims that debt elimination programs are not worthy to spend money on. If they are scams you may find yourself with a higher debt and involved in some kind of fraudulent activity with serious consequences on your credit. If the debt elimination programs are legitimate the expenses are still little justified if we think that the individual consumer can go through the exact stages of contract renegotiation with the lender as the intermediary.

The good part of debt elimination programs has to be recognized if we consider them as a form of educating the average consumer to better manage finances. You can receive useful instructions on how to get out of debt or how to adjust budget to correspond to the actual family needs. When you can’t get out of trouble on your own, a debt consultant becomes a safety net. Obama and the 4 Key Trends in US Political-economy

For the first time in history, the Americans have elected a President who has never had a job. President-elect Obama has never worked in the private sector; never ran an organisation; never met a payroll; and never hired a single private sector employee. He was a city-state paid lawyer ‘organising’ his Chicago community to achieve his personal political ambitions. He is the ultimate insider and corrupt politician without a clue about policy, the economy, trade or foreign affairs. What he portends for the future direction of the US is not a positive.

The US is now on a very dangerous left-ward lurch – irregardless of the media’s rhetoric about how ‘centrist’ the new Black messiah will be. Obama and his friends, including most of the old Clinton administration which is now being hired into Obama’s government, are not centrist. It was the Republican Congress which dominated the politics of the 1990′s which kept budgets balanced, gave the US tax cuts, welfare reform and NAFTA and which made Clinton assume the role of an economic conservative. No such constraint exists today on an Obama administration. The Republicans have lost credibility, seats and are in disarray [how else can one explain Sarah Palin]. There is nothing to stop Obama from enacting his true beliefs and ones which he has openly espoused for 12 years in politics – large scale government ownership of production, social processes and the elimination of risk. It is the European model he has supported albeit in stages.

The US political-economy will only get worse after Obama’s coronation and this will be demonstrated over succeeding administrations. This means that whatever Obama will implement might only have future repercussions as opposed to an immediate impact. If Obama implements his big statist ideas not only will the US economy suffer further decline, the spending and program building developed in the next 4 years will be almost politically impossible to unravel. Government programs only grow, they never shrink.

We have seen this story repeated countless times in the past 100 years.

FDR’s failed domestic administration which prolonged the Great Depression and gutted US business, bequeathed to American taxpayers the socialist housing finance firms of Freddie and Fannie which were key players in the current housing finance meltdown; a bankrupt state managed social security system; and an inefficient socialised US health care system which has nothing whatsoever to do with free markets but which is badly in need of costly repair [US governments spend 60% of all health care dollars and firmly control the rest through legislation].

LBJ’s great socialist society program of the 1960s erected a huge welfare system which is now bankrupt with attendant and unforeseen social costs such as the destruction of Black families and massive illegal immigration. Welfare and ‘mandatory’ payments for social programs now constitute 80% of US federal government spending [which is now over $3 Trillion per year].

Bush and the current Congress and their desire to print and spend $3.5 Trillion, will likewise have enormous distortive impacts on the US political-economy in the future and will likely result in another financial crisis and stock market meltdown, along with a declining US dollar, high inflation and far lower living standards.

So what will Obama do and what does he represent ?

This man’s rather bizarre triumph is a demonstration of 4 main trends in US politics and at this moment there is no conservative or independent movement [outside of Newt Gingrich's 'American Solutions' a bi-partisan attempt to create a host of new ideas to solve critical problems] with the leadership, the money, and the policies to prevent this. Obama’s election confirms these 4 inimical trends in the development of the American state:

1.An inevitable left-ward statist drift as government gets ever more powerful and the US media moves from journalism to open left wing political support;

2.The rise of minority groups and their political action groups, as clients and in fact arbiters of the state and of political power;

3.The irrational brainwashing of whole segments of society by the state and Hollywood, including the young and the misinformed, who lack an organising prinicple in life and who look to empty slogans; charismatic leaders, a cult following and Hollywood for direction even as they denigrate capitalists, Christians and Jews.

4.The demise of the original American idea, based on Puritanism, Protestantism, articles of the Judeo-Christian code, and the self-belief in human created progress, that individualism, initiative, risk taking, capital market formation and technological progress are the best ways to human, environmental, and worldly salvation.

If Obama chooses to appease those who voted him: the poor, the minority, Blacks, the brainwashed state-trained young, the union worker, the protectionist, the Hollywood Upper West side Ivy trained snots; the anti-faith anti-church factions; illegal immigrants; the uber-rich with their champagne socialism – the US will be bankrupted. That is an easy prediction. If he chooses the path of reform, tax cuts, spending cuts; the abolition of US crony–capitalism, and the reduction of lobby groups he will propel the US economy upwards and will be re-elected with ease in 2012.

No one knows what he will do – but the trends in the US are ominous. The bet is between Obama turning himself into a young Reagan, or Obama becoming just another sniveling Jimmy Carter or FDR. A betting man would pick the latter and act accordingly. Don’t be surprised however if in 20 years people looking back will say that Obama was far too conservative and centrist.

So predict the 4 major trends which will over time destroy the US. It is going to get worse and not better unless some very powerful counter-cultural forces are created. And few of those now exist. If the Americans want to save their country, they will need to get very busy to reverse the current and rather obvious trends to destruction.

Gujarati Theory Test Translation Could Bring You Success In Your Driving Career

class=”module lens_intro”>

type=”module_intro”>Are You Conscious That You Can Take Your Driving Theory Test In Gujarati?

For no extra cost, car and motorcycle applicants can listen by means of a headset to the test being read out in in Gujarati. This means you no longer have to study the materials in just English. assuming you have a great knowledge of the materials you can basically put your headphones on and listen to the query & response in Gujarati and then make your selection.

In this write-up you could discover a short rationalization of the theory & hazard perception test and how to best prepare for both exams. You can also discover causes why Gujarati talking candidates battle with the exams a lot more than their English counterparts.

I will also give you an overview of the most comprehensive preparatory bundle accessible on the market these days for Gujarati speakers.

type=”module textmodule”>

type=”module_title “>Preparing For Your Theory Exam

class=”write_module”>Getting ready for the driving theory exam can be a difficult process especially for individuals those whose primary language in not English. In this report I aim to present a few useful tips and recommendations for Gujarati pupils who maybe having difficulties to get to grips with the test.
Each and every 12 months many 1000′s of would be motorists embark on the difficult method of qualification as a full United Kingdom drivers licence holder. The initially hurdle is successfully passing the driving theory test which is composed of two independent elements.

The first aspect is the Theory exam which consists of a multiple choice test that is sat on a computer at one of a range of locations designated by the Driving Standards Agency. The second aspect of the test is labelled the Hazard Perception Test which is also sat on a computer and quickly follows the conclusion of the Theory Test.

Just less than fifty % of those sitting the Theory exam are unsuccessful at their first attempt. Also a greater proportion of prospects comingfrom ethnic minority communities are unsuccessful at their first attempt. So how do we explain the poor pass statistics within the ethnic minority groups?

Having been a type=”IL_AD”>drivingteacher course=”IL_AD”>working with various ethnic minority groups for over a decade I came to the most simple conclusions and invented approaches to deal with the issues encountered by these individuals.

My interaction with pupils whose initially vocabulary was not English pointed out that they frequently found it hard to totally fully grasp the theory test questions and answers due to the technical lingo employed in the test.

This bunch of candidates frequently need to examine the core materials for lengthier intervals of time, spending numerous hrs attempting to decipher the specialized jargon of the Theory exam whilst having difficulties to blindly memorise the materials with out a complete knowledge.

I often suggest these pupils to utilise their time in attempting to recognize the question instead of class=”IL_AD”>blind memorisation. For illustration understanding how the anti lock braking system in a vehicle functions should let one to apply that know-how when inquired how the brakes are probably to work in any given situation.

To conserve students time and effort I designed an interactive software program programme which comprises two test options.

The first choice permits the consumer to take a practice exam with both the question and answers in English and Gujarati translation side by side. This test option provides continuous feedback and allows one to get as much practice as required building confidence for the real test.

The second test option is a simulation of the actual theory test which the student will sit on the day of the exam. It looks and feels very similar to the actual test. Much like the actual test on the day, the student will be timed and be provided with feedback at the end of each session.

The feedback from my pupils showed me that many candidates do not understand how the Hazard Perception Test actually works or how to gain the best score. The key to this problem is knowing when to click the button once you have spotted the hazard. Often students click too early which does not allow sufficient time for the computer to register the score. Sometimes students click too late resulting in a low score. To get round this problem it is important to understand what is meant by a hazard. A hazard is anything which may cause you to change speed or direction. Now we have to distinguish between a potential hazard and an actual hazard. A potential hazard is one that may develop into an actual hazard but does not do so. For example a pedestrian walking on the footpath may cross in front of a passing vehicle but does not do so. Provided the student is aware of the hazard it is not necessary to click to register a potential hazard. When a potential hazard develops into an actual hazard then this is where the student is required to register their awareness by clicking within the scoring window.

The scoring window opens as soon as the hazard becomes visible and then counts down for five seconds before the scoring window is closed. The earlier the student clicks within the scoring window the higher the resultant score.

The Successful Driver software gives a detailed explanation of the Hazard Perception Test in Gujarati. You can practice the interactive Hazard clips as a lot of times as you like till you are confident you comprehend how the exam functions and how to attain the best score.

My type=”IL_AD”>tips to pupils for both elements of the exam is to get as much practice as possible. This is most likely to increase the pupils knowledge and self confidence and therefore make it possible for for the ideal outcome.

Pupils who are not proficient in English and communicate Gujarati can use a variety of sources in getting ready for their test. The best possibility is to prepare using the Successful Driver Study programme which permits the pupil to study in both English and translation side by side in an interactive exam. This may cut down the research time expected by individuals individuals struggling to get to grips with the English language.
