Dear President Obama: Meet me at Starbucks, let’s talk about Healthcare choice and competition
President Obama has called for ideas and said he is open to hear other solutions for Healthcare. I dont think that this is a Democrat or Republican problem—but that the real problem is lack of free market thinking that would provide a patient centered and financially sustainable healthcare system for all Americans that want change we can live with.
Partisans on both sides have made it false argument, there is a third way. Fairness is not a Democrat or a Republican ideal. With all the confusion, I am reminded of something my adopted father used to say, There is profit in confusion—if you are the one causing it.
I have been watching the debate and it seems like the argument is all (DNC) against them (GOP) and what is best for America seems to be ignored. In fact no free market solutions have been credibly covered in the mainstream media. I would like to have a voice in the debate. President Obama, please invite free market Americans into the discussion.
While the Democrats theoretically have the votes to pass an HR3200 type bill, I am hoping cooler heads will prevail in the Senate and a patient centered, free market plan can arise. For almost forty years I have heard the cry of a womans right to choose. What about my right to choose? What about the rights of the rest of America?
I really do wish to create a dialog about the three main issues in this video, especially the competition and choice argument. I poked fun at the Blue Dog Democrats in the Grandma Got Run Over by Her Healthcare, video last week, but here I am making a serious direct appeal to President Obama and the congress to back up and look at the unintended consequences and the possibility that this could be the event that pushes the economy into a death spiral that it may not recover from.
Sincerely, Jon Hanson August 21, 2009.
